Snaps From Twenty Second, A Poem
To you, Ligaya
I wander beyond this vast meadow,
felt home on the Twenty First Avenue.
As I approach the Third of November,
I instantly knew that change is just around the corner.
Do you ever feel that certain bliss when you are with someone,
not the ones that are intimidated, nor those that makes you feel unheard,
and not particularly a lover, partner, or a romantic bond.
It's more of like a soul aligned to yours,
so powerful as if a bond was already there at the beginning of it all.
The thought of having various people in my life
where I share different pieces of me—
it's a fascinating cup of life.
I have certain individuals I share book recommendations with,
those I can tap to play on midnights,
exchange literary thoughts to, our fave poets, authors, and scenes
like the one where Ophelia knew by heart she'd find Thorn in Babel
or even the massive affection of Evelyn
how Mr. Darcy uttered being bewitched body and soul,
those that I plan photoshoots with,
ask for feedbacks for my creative outputs,
individuals I give out whims, and the ones I watch with.
Diversity in one lifetime,
I'm blessed to have all sorts of amazing people in my life.
Perhaps, the euphoria you also perceive from doing the things you love?
How each stroke also glides inside you, or words from your writings
also bleed through your heart as it is through paper.
Even when you read, a new world awaits you?
Books and films, films and books,
all those that make you feel all the warmth in this world.
The tune you carry with your voice,
the same way your playlist holds you dear from this scary space.
How each clothing you make, and the days you dress yourself up—
is another form of art you inhibit, giving much the gaiety you deserve.
Certainly, these photographs depict how I see beauty in everything;
yet fully aware of the terrifying parts.
That's my adrenaline, on the twenty first avenue,
ready to drive past through and set foot on my
Twenty Second Boulevard at the Third of November.
Hubba birthday, to me!
Ligaya.
